Week 3 - Art & My Major

If you complete the project, include photos or video of what you created:

  • What was your original idea?
  • Did it change as you went along? How?
  • What research did you have to do?
  • How did the execution of the project go?
  • Was your project successful? Why? Or, why not?
  • How do you feel about the finished project?
  • What would you do different next time?
  • Do you think your Major/Career can be enhanced by thinking about Art?
  • How can Art enhance or empower your Major/Career?

The original plan was to show that medication changes genes in order to improve the health of the body. No, the idea didn't change as I went along with making the picture. I researched some ideas that are related to biology and art, and I saw the DNA molecule and the idea popped up. Since I don't have any color pencils at home, I decided to use the technology available to me and drew it on my iPad. I think my project was successful because it shows that medication only alters a specific part of your gene, not all your genes. I wish it was more colorful, but I'm not an artist so I'm satisfied. For the next time, I want to show the pathway that medication takes throughout the body, but that would take some time. I do think that my career can be enhanced by thinking about art because it makes you consider the tiny details rather than just the big picture. Art can improve my career because if someone that isn't in my field were to see some art regarding it, they might be able to understand what is being shown.
