Week 12 - Public Art

 


I went over to my cousin's house on Friday and I was playing with my niece when the idea of drawing hopscotch for her came to my mind. She loves to jump around so I thought this would be the best idea, but I didn't think anyone else was going to use it. Because I hardly see any kids in her neighborhood when I go but I was wrong. I saw a woman walking her dog hop in, a saw a tiny little kid hop but he didn't know what way to go. Growing up I loved playing with chalk and especially drawing stuff, so this gave me a piece of my childhood when I saw my niece jumping around. I didn't think adults would enjoy it too but they did to my surprise.

Week 11 - Art Activity - Day In My Life

Questions:  - Why did you choose what you did? - Are you satisfied? Did you notice anything that you never thought about? - If you were to do this again, would you do it the same way or a different way?  So I chose to do a Day In My Life because I'm always sending my best friend Snapchat with every little update or just something that I want to show her throughout the day. But, since I can't send my professor Snapchat (lol) I decided it would be easier to write the major things on a piece of paper and add side details. I'm not completely satisfied, I like my usual Snapchat mentioned of telling a story. But this does get the point through. Since it's summer I thought I don't do much and am being lazy, but after looking at this list, I must say I do a lot in a day whether I want to or not. If I were to do this again, I most likely will not do a paper DIML and probably do a vlog version. But I did have fun doing this.

Week 3 - Artist OTW

Show a few samples of their work and discuss what they’re doing, how they work, and why you find it interesting. Compare and contrast your artists. What things do they have in common? How are their ideas or processes or media different? Eduardo Kac -   The GFP bunny - he took a rabbit and implanted it with a green fluorescent protein found in jellyfish, when it was placed under a blue light would glow bright green. He made this piece to show that the nature of an animal or plant can be altered. I found this interesting because he wanted to show that if life is more than just what nature makes, it can be changed without harm.   Genesis - he implanted base pairs of genetics into an unspecified bacterium. This piece of work was to make a statement about inherited change is not the only option.
