Week 12 - Public Art

Image
I went over to my cousin's house on Friday and I was playing with my niece when the idea of drawing hopscotch for her came to my mind. She loves to jump around so I thought this would be the best idea, but I didn't think anyone else was going to use it. Because I hardly see any kids in her neighborhood when I go but I was wrong. I saw a woman walking her dog hop in, a saw a tiny little kid hop but he didn't know what way to go. Growing up I loved playing with chalk and especially drawing stuff, so this gave me a piece of my childhood when I saw my niece jumping around. I didn't think adults would enjoy it too but they did to my surprise.

Week 12 - EC - Class Feedback

  1. The best thing about this class was the fact we only had two assignments throughout the whole week and could work on them whenever we had the chance.  2. The least favorite thing about this class was sometimes the assignments where we had to be creative and think on our own, it was easier when he gave us topics.  3. My number one suggestion would be to keep doing what you're doing because this was one class where I was stressed every day.  4. Yes the integration of BeachBoard with the class website worked for me.  5. I didn't mind posting my work but sometimes when the post had like five views I wonder who viewed it.  6. The weekly activities were entertaining. 7. I think you should add more recent artists because reading about some of them was boring. 8. The useful section was useful because it gave me a better understanding of what you were asking or talking about.

Week 12 - Artist - Abramovic-Althamer

Image
Marina Abramovic is a conceptual and performance artist from Serbia and a philanthropist, writer, and filmmaker. Her work examines body art, endurance art, and feminist art, as well as the performer-audience interaction, the body's boundaries, and the mind's possibilities. Abramovi claims to herself as the "grandmother of performance art" because she has been working for over four decades. By including onlookers and focusing on "confronting pain, blood, and physical boundaries of the body," she pioneered a new concept of identity.  Abramovi used aspects of ritual and gesture in her first performance in Edinburgh in 1973. The artist played a Russian game in which rhythmic knife jabs are aimed between the splayed fingers of one's hand, using twenty knives and two tape recorders. She would pick up a new knife from the row of twenty she had lined up each time she cut herself, and she would keep track of the procedure. This piece was called the Rythm 10, she ...

Week 11 - Art Activity - Day In My Life

Image
Questions:  - Why did you choose what you did? - Are you satisfied? Did you notice anything that you never thought about? - If you were to do this again, would you do it the same way or a different way?  So I chose to do a Day In My Life because I'm always sending my best friend Snapchat with every little update or just something that I want to show her throughout the day. But, since I can't send my professor Snapchat (lol) I decided it would be easier to write the major things on a piece of paper and add side details. I'm not completely satisfied, I like my usual Snapchat mentioned of telling a story. But this does get the point through. Since it's summer I thought I don't do much and am being lazy, but after looking at this list, I must say I do a lot in a day whether I want to or not. If I were to do this again, I most likely will not do a paper DIML and probably do a vlog version. But I did have fun doing this.

Week 10 - Art Activity - Intermedia

Image
Living in the 21st I thought about something that I frequently use: Snapchat, which falls under the social media category. To be honest, I couldn't think about anything for this prompt, so I decided to show some of the thoughts I have daily, I don't want to go into any details or add more because  I'm not in the mood. Lately, I have just been tired and sad, so doing most of my assignments is taking a lot out of me. I'm not saying the assignments are hard or anything, I'm just not in the mood to do anything. I have a test tomorrow, but I have hardly studied, I'm just waiting for summer classes to end but then comes the new school year. Anyways back to the topic, I chose social media as my media because a lot of us use it, especially Instagram and TikTok. I use snap the most, I Snapchat my best friend a lot and she snaps me a lot as well. Social media can have a positive and negative impact on users. Besides Snapchat, I was also considering painting/drawing my t...
